Members and prospective new members wishing to complete the Certificate of Professional Competence will have to demonstrate competence in the following areas:
Financial Accounting
- preparation of accounts for:
- sole traders;
- partnerships;
- limited companies
Taxation
- preparation of accounts for:
- adjusted profits computations;
- capital allowance computations;
- capital gains tax computations;
- associated tax computations and returns.
- computations of income assessed under Schedule E
- computations of income derived from property and investment incomepersonal tax returns
Assessment can take several forms:
- submission to the CPA, for central assessment examples of the candidates work and or
- submission to an assessor, for devolved assessment examples of the candidates work.
- There is an assessment fee to have the evidence assessed for the Certificate of Professional Competence.
